The 2005 Rotary JV Baseball Classic - A Home Run For Berkeley County
February 18, 19, and 22
Baseball season began in Berkeley County with fans flocking to the first annual Baseball Classic sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Goose Creek and Moncks Corner. The event included JV baseball teams from nine schools in the tri-county area. Tournament games were played over three days, Feb. 18th, 19th, and 22nd at Goose Creek High and Berkeley High ball fields.The guest of honor for the event was retired Coach Squillace, Goose Creek High’s former coach who retired with 29 years of dedicated service to students and athletes in Berkeley County School District. The baseball he received from Goose Creek High’s JV baseball players was inscribed with the number 328 - his record of wins. In appreciation for his dedication and guidance to the thousands of student and athletes whose lives he touched during his career, Coach Squillace was presented a plaque by the Rotary Club of Goose Creek.
Proceeds from the event benefit the participating schools and help fund scholarships awarded by the local Rotary clubs to graduating seniors. Game results are as follows:
